ITV TONIGHT HOW SAFE IS YOUR VAPE ?
Well I'm guessing some of you guys will have seen the outright disgusting, supposedly 'balanced' report on ITV Tonight last week? Or have already had the anti-Vape flag wavers gleefully tell you about it and how you shouldn't be Vaping?
WELL WE HEAR YOU, STAND STRONG AND PUT THESE UNINFORMED INDIVIDUALS IN THEIR PLACE. ACCORDING TO THE SCIENCE BACKED BY PHE AND THE NHS VAPING IS STILL 95% SAFER THAN SMOKING .
This programme has not only be slammed by Vapers around the country but received heavy criticism from UKVIA and ASH amongst others for completely misleading its viewers. Nothing more than click-bait scaremongering that sadly has the terrible consequence of smokers being put off Vaping and worse still, encouraging Vapers to go back to smoking. ITV SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF ITSELF AND HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MISLEADING ITS VIEWERS USING MISINFORMATION AND IGNORING THE READILY AVAILABLE SCIENCE.
IF YOU FEEL PASSIONATELY ABOUT VAPING AND YOU'RE FED UP WITH THIS IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM THEN MAKE YOURSELF HEARD AND FILE A COMPLAINT WITH OFCOM ABOUT ITV'S TONIGHT HOW SAFE IS YOUR VAPE. (The programme was aired on 06/02/20 at 19:30 on ITV)
Being 5 years tobacco free, I'm definitely a Vaping advocate who feels strongly about the dangerous way in which the media reports on Vaping without care or consequence. I've already filed my complaint about the programme to OFCOM:
I'm disgusted that ITV's Tonight programme, which sells itself on "Compelling current affairs stories that get to the heart of what matters most to viewers" broadcast such a biased and unbalanced report on Vaping. "How safe is your Vape", even the title of the show is misleading. Failing to answer its own question by disregarding the wealth of objective evidence readily available. The show also completely failed to update the British viewers on how the recent deaths and illnesses in the United States are exclusively linked to the use of illicit THC eliquids sold on the black market, not normal regulated Vaping. Information which has now also been confirmed by the CDC. The UK in fact has the toughest Vaping regulations in the world and is leading the way in reducing smoking rates. Why didn't they contact the UKVIA for comment ? Who in fact reported they contacted ITV themselves with no reply. They also reported that no UK manufacturer or importer was contacted for their right to reply. Bizarrely Stanton Glantz was included in this programme, there's no reason he should have been included as his opinions have no bearing on the British Vaping industry. He and the FDA have failed to effectively regulate the industry in the US. Not only that, he proven to be a long standing anti tobacco harm reduction advocate as well as a liar with his own financial agenda. The programme seems to completely disregard the science and information available in the UK that's supported by PHE, NHS, Cancer Research UK and ASH to name a few. This programme has done nothing but serve its own journalistic agenda and in the process misled its viewers, effectively encouraging the public to carry on smoking. ITV should be ashamed of themselves and be held accountable for such biased and dismal reporting.
